Dr. Christopher Roberts, Uthlaut Professor and Chair of Auburn University's Department of Chemical Engineering, has been honored with the Southeastern Conference Academic Consortium Faculty Achievement Award.
The SEC Academic Consortium’s (SECAC) Faculty Achievement Awards honors those with outstanding records in both teaching and scholarship who serve as role models for junior faculty and students. To qualify for the award, the individual's scholarly contributions and discoveries must be nationally or internationally acknowledged by colleagues within their discipline. The award is given to one faculty member from each SEC university.
Dr. Larry Benefield, Dean of the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University, said, "Dr. Roberts’ accomplishments are extraordinary for someone who serves in an administrative role. In my opinion, he is rapidly moving toward selection for membership in the National Academy of Engineering."
Roberts' award qualifies him to be considered for the SECAC's Distinguished Professor of the Year Award, which is given to the outstanding faculty member in the SEC who is chosen from the Faculty Achievement Award winners.
