Microfibrous Materials Laboratories

Laboratories associated with the Center for Microfibrous Materials Manufacturing, include unique and extensive equipment for layup, sintering, rolling, pressing, layering/laminating, cutting, processing and near-net shape machining of porous metal wick structures using sintered fibers in various metals and alloys. A large continuous belt furnace is capable of producing over 1 million square feet of sheet stock per year. This sintering furnace has previously been used to produce the first continuous roll of sintered fibrous media ever produced. These materials can be cut, layered and resintered to produce near net-shape sintered bodies in the form of complex and composite wick geometries.  CM3 Page
