Initiated by a $25 million gift to the College of Engineering by Dr. Samuel L. Ginn, the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE) have developed, and have obtained approval for, a new undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Wireless Engineering degree. There are two tracks in this program, one concentrating on the design of hardware and the other on the design of software for wireless devices and networks. This new program is one of the first of its kind in the United States. The official starting date for this program is the Fall Semester of 2002.

Vision: Develop the Auburn wireless program to be a signature brand in education and research that stands out nationally and internationally.

Mission: Educate tomorrow's engineers who enable world-wide communications by exploiting the power and convenience of the wireless medium through discovery and innovation
