Invention Commercialization Service (ICS) for Students

The Invention Commercialization Service of the Thomas Walter Center for Technology Management is available to the Auburn University Students for an independent evaluation of their inventions. Submitted ideas are subjected to an initial screening process. The screening decision will be based on whether the idea is:

1. Novel and new to the market
2. A substantial improvement over ‘competing’ products
3. Marketable
4. Safe and would not pose major liability issues
5. Technically feasible
6. Patentable

Send an E-Mail to swamidas@auburn.edu requesting a meeting & bring a completed Non-Disclosure Agreement form (Click here for Non-Disclosure agreement form)to explore the future potential of the idea.

The center can guide you towards product definition, market potential, technical potential, estimate of additional research & development, major hurdles and investment options. We can provide guidance but we do not have the resources to actually do any of these. A motivated inventor could take the advice, and with some research, could learn how to do all the above.
