Palm Pilot to Palm Pilot Ir has a range of 5 ft.

Palm Pilot detects desktop receiver 46 inches away

Desktop reciver detects Palm Pilot 4 inces away.

Palm Pilot to TV has a range of 10 ft.

Palm OS 3.3

  1. Go to http://www.palm.com/custsupp/upgrade/ and download the Palm OS 3.3 upgrade.
  2. Make sure the HotSync cradle is connected and the COM port is available.
  3. Execute the self-extracting downloaded file.
  4. C:\Palm\Upgrade_Utility.exe

Enhanced Infrared Update

  2. Download irenhanc.zip.
  3. Extract to C:\Palm\IR Update
  4. Install the following files onto the Palm

Setup for HotSync with Ir

  1. Install the Palm Desktop Organizer Software from the CD included with the Palm Pilot.
  2. Install Palm OS 3.3 onto Palm Pilot.
  3. Install Enhanced Infrared Update on Palm Pilot.
  4. Install Ir receiver’s driver from floppy.
  5. Click the Hot Sync Manager icon in the Windows system tray.
  6. On the Local tab, set the Serial port to the virtual one created by Infrared Monitor (COM 4).
  7. Set the speed to 57600.
  8. Click the Infrared Monitor icon in the Windows system tray.
  9. On the Options tab, check Limit connection speed to, and select 57.6 kbps.
  10. On the Palm: launch HotSync and tap the Menu icon.
  11. From the Options menu select Connection Setup.
  12. Select the IR to a PC/Handheld configuration and tap the Edit button.
  13. Tap the Details button, and set Speed to 57,600 bps.
  14. Tap OK, OK, Done.
  15. Launch Preferences and select the Serial/IR category.
  16. Select Infrared.

HotSync with Ir

  1. Launch HotSync.
  2. Tap Local.
  3. Select IR to a PC/Handheld.
  4. Tap the HotSync icon.

Ir between Palm Pilots

  1. Tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap the Menu icon.
  3. Tap App, and then tap Beam.
  4. Tap the application you want to transfer
  5. Tap Beam.

PalmRemote

  1. Go to http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA005810/remocon/premocce.htm.
  2. Download the PalmRemote for Palm Pilot (remocp26.zip).
  3. Extract contents of the zip file to c:\Palm
  4. Install C:\Palm\Remote Control\p5remote.prc on the Palm Pilot
  5. Launch P-Remote on the Palm
  6. Select all the electronic devices you want to control plus any others you want.
  7. Tap the menu icon and from the option menu select Button Setting.
  8. Set each button you want to be able to use.
