Welcome to the home page for Institute for Reconfigurable Smart Components. Take a look at What's New in our web.

What's New

Faculty Vacancies:

Auburn University invites nominations and applications for four tenure track faculty positions including the Director. The Institute involves the Departments of Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE) and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) in a new university initiative to develop Pinnacles of Excellence. See Detail...

Seminar in Reconfigurable Smart Components:

As part of a class sponsored by the institute, COMP0690, Fall 1999, we developed the East Alabama General Location Engine (EAGLE)

Reconfigurable Smart Components for Wireless Sensor Information Systems:

The main objective of this research is to develop reconfigurable smart components technologies for supporting wireless sensor information systems. The reconfigurable system software and network protocols will be utilized in distributed wireless applications involving wireless devices, such as sensors, RFID tags, interrogators, wireless links, mobile routers and remote data sources. The expected results are configurable network protocols and software for mobile sensor information processing. These reconfigurable mechanisms and infrastructure will also support other applications in manufacturing, multi-robot systems, vehicles, spontaneous home networks and reconfigurable laboratories. (Investigator: Alvin Lim)

Wireless Information Infrastructure

The development of reconfigurable smart components will involve building several key facilities. We will develop prototypes for some of the underlying components and mechanisms for supporting reconfigurable smart components.
