The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University located in Auburn, Alabama (http://www.eng.auburn.edu) is seeking candidates for the position of postdoctoral fellow in engineering.  Postdoctoral positions become available periodically under a variety of research grants and projects in the college.  We are seeking applications from individuals with a Ph.D. in any one area of engineering such as: aerospace, chemical, civil, computer science and software, electrical and computer, industrial and systems, mechanical, and polymer and fiber engineering.  Also of interest are related fields of microelectronics, automotive electronics, microfibers, highway research, materials, asphalt technology, pulp and paper, transportation, detection and food safety, and information technology, as well as fields related to current research projects.  The positions are available for a minimum of one year as full-time 12-month, with renewal possible.  Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.  Review of applications will begin August 16, 2009 and continue throughout the year as positions become available.

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor: The Department of Chemical Engineering at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position. The department seeks outstanding candidates who have a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a related field. The area of research is open; however preferred areas include energy, bioenergy and biofuels, thermochemical and biochemical conversion processes, and pulp and paper engineering. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to both excellent research and teaching. Rank and salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Department of Chemical Engineering has 20 faculty, an enrollment of over 380 undergraduates, 85 graduate students and $5.5 million in annual sponsored research.

Civil Engineering Job Openings

 

The Department of Civil Engineering at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning Fall 2010 in Transportation Engineering.  Candidates for all ranks will be considered.  The selected faculty member is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop an externally funded research program and direct graduate students in the transportation engineering discipline.  Transportation engineering will include one or more of the following areas: traffic engineering, traffic operations, traffic safety, geometric design, transportation planning, multimodal transportation, and probability & statistics.  A candidate with interest and experience in CADD-based roadway design using InRoads/MicroStation is highly desirable.  The selected candidate is also expected to engage in department, college, university, and professional service. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level in the field of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) for the Auburn University MRI Research Center (AUMRIRC).  Scheduled to open in the fall of 2010, this new facility will contain a start-of-the-art open-bore 3T human scanner and a 7T actively-shielded, whole-body scanner with 8 parallel transmit channels, 128 receive channels, and multinuclear capability.  The candidate selected for this position will have the opportunity to assist in the development of a new imaging program.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the growth of the AUMRIRC through the development of an externally-funded research program, collaborate with researchers from different disciplines across campus, direct graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and be involved in service to the department and profession.

A Ph.D. or equivalent in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, physics or a closely related field is required.  Experience with MR imaging and fMRI for 3T systems and higher is desired.  Preference will given to candidates with experience on 7T systems.  The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment; excellent communication skills required.
