Business-Engineering-Technology (B-E-T) Minor

A Minor for Engineering and Business Undergraduates Offered Jointly by
the Ginn College of Engineering and the College of Business


Who Should Apply

  • All majors in business and engineering looking for a strong minor
  • Those who will be sophomores and juniors in the fall
  • Freshmen and sophomores in January with GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Co-op students; one semester of co-op can provide 3 B-E-T course credits
  • Those who want to be certified in the Business-Engineering-Technology minor

B-E-T curriculum

The 16-credit, four-semester minor requires the completion of the following B-E-T courses. This minor enhances all majors in the two colleges.

  • BUSI/ENGR 3510 Introduction to B-E-T (3 credits, fall, yr 1)
  • BUSI 3550 Cross-Functional Teamwork (1 credit, fall, yr 1)
  • BUSI/ENGR 3520 Integrating Engineering and Business Theory with Practice
    (3 credits, spring, yr 1)
  • BUSI 3560 Leadership (1 credit, spring, yr 1)

B-E-T Minor - What is it?

  • Academic minor for all business or engineering majors
  • 16 credits over 4 semesters
  • Earn 3 credits during Spring Co-op semester
  • Earn a Certificate in Business-Engineering-Technology

National/International Experience

  • Provides real-world experience in international product development through partnerships with other institutions each year
  • One Auburn team visits UK and/or India to work with their team members (Travel expenses covered by the B-E-T program)
  • A team from BET Course 3510 competed in product and business development against 36 teams in Chicago in fall 2007 - Placed second in display/project management/ teamwork.

Interested but Not Sure?

  • B-E-T will accept a limited number of students not ready to commit to the four-semester minor.
  • Take first course in BET sequence BUSI/ENGR 3510 in fall
  • At the end of first semester continue in the B-E-T program or discontinue B-E-T
